Chapter 14 The New Scott
It is 12 years later. It is 3:00 A.M. Scott is sitting on his bed reading a book. Then he laughs and says, “Yeah right! Like that’s ever gonna happen!” Then he hears a shout from his grandfather. “Scott, go to sleep already! You’re going to oversleep and be late to Kilfred’s again, and you know how much he hates it when you’re late!” “I’m not going to oversleep!” Scott replied angrily. Why couldn’t his grandfather trust him? With that, Scott went to sleep. It is a nice, peaceful morning on Outlook Island. Inside a small house, Scott sleeps peacefully. Unfortunately, his alarm clock is ringing like mad! When he finally wakes up, he starts to freak, and runs out of the house, grabbing a sack lunch from his grandfather. “Oh man, if I’m late again, Kilfred’s going to totally kill me!” he thought. It would have been no problem to run to Kilfred’s house, but he remembered that he had to pick up that spell book from the library, which was on the other side of the island. He was running like crazy, bumping into people left and right! He finally got the spell book and burst through the double doors. The millisecond after he came in, an older looking man emerged from the back room. “Ah, Scott, on time I see. That’s good. If you want to be a wizard, you’re going to have to start coming on time, and possibly even early, as we have a lot of wands left for you to try.” Scott was still working on finding the wand that was right for him. There were bookshelves and bookshelves of wands, each in their own separate boxes, but many of the shelves were empty, and there was a large pile of wands, and an even larger pile of boxes against the wall. “Well then, let’s get started, shall we?” After at least 15 wands, Scott heard the rumble of a motor boat. He rushed outside, partly to see what the boat was, and partly to get away from all those wands. As the boat landed, Scott saw a girl about his age walk out. She looked around and then shouted into the boat, “It’s inhabited!” Then a tall, muscular, tan-skinned boy walked out. He looked to be about 16, to old for her, he thought. “Hey, where are we; what’s the name of this island?” the girl shouted. Scott couldn’t tell if she was asking the tall guy, or one of the residents. Scott’s grandfather walked out, and replied, “Outlook Island, now who are you?” “I’m Terry.” Said the girl, “and this is my partner, Morkai. We’re from Stonewall, and we travel around, trying to discover new islands.” Suddenly, the sky turned dark, and a figure, darker than the sky, came over the horizon, Shadowaxe. Scott, of course, had no idea who it was, and just stood, paralyzed by fear like everyone else. Only Terry ran. Shadowaxe was told by Gimeon to find terry, and bring her to him, but Shadowaxe was used to seeing in pitch blackness, so its eyesight was not very great. Shadowaxe lunged its arms forward, trying to find its target. It didn’t know that its target was almost halfway across the island! After a few swipes, its hand came to rest on Kalaria. It left the island, thinking that it had grabbed its target, and as it left, the blackness drained from the sky. “I’ve got to go after him!” Scott said. “You can’t!” Kilfred retorted. “You’re just a little boy! You can’t take on something like that! And besides, how would you get there?” “For your information!” Scott said, stretching out the word, information to be annoying, “I’m a wizard! almost.” “You could use my boat.” Terry said. “I happen to know where that thing was headed, Blackcastle Island. It’s a long way away from here, but my motor boat can get us there real quick.” “Yeah, and somebody has to go save Grandpa.” Scott said. “So, can I go, please?” “Well, I guess so, as long as you stay out of trouble.” Kilfred finally said. “Alright! I’m going to get to go!” Scott said excitedly.
