Chapter 20

Mordalfo and Mystacia

“Now you are ready,” the tree said. “With the Legendary sword, you should be able to beat Shadowaxe.”  As Scott sailed toward Blackcastle Island , he felt an evil wind rising. It was as if all hope had been sucked out of him. As he approached the huge tower, fear gripped his heart. He pressed on. As he approached the island, he pulled out his wand and yelled, “Arrdones!” A huge hole erupted into the side of the wall. Scott sailed his raft into the tower. As he did, he thought back to the fight with Metamikau. He thought about Gorvval; how he had stuck with Scott to the end. He thought about Metamikau, his hand plummeting into the sea, along with Scott’s dagger. The dagger that Morkai had given him. It was hard to believe that that was only a few days ago. So much had happened since then. He thought about Terry and Morkai. Would he ever see them again? Lastly he thought about Metamikau’s plan. It seemed that Metamikau was trying to get Scott to Oval Island , while Shadowaxe was trying to keep him away. They couldn’t have been working together, yet they both worked under the same person. That cloaked person that ordered Shadowaxe to kill Scott when he first went to Blackcastle Island . As he climbed the island, he slashed through hordes of monsters. Mongols and Guards were no longer a problem. As he reached the familiar gate leading to the prison cells, he heard a voice. It came from his grandfather! Kalaria wasn’t dead! “Scott! It’s you. I can’t believe you came back. I can’t even believe you’re alive!” Then he heard another familiar voice. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t Scott. Man, you’re such an idiot!” Scott whirled around and saw Terry in the doorway. Morkai stood beside her, that blank expression on his face. “We had to fend off that shadow monster. If we didn’t, you would’ve just got caught again.” As she watched him, her eyes suddenly locked on to the Legendary Sword on his back. “Where…where did you get that?” she asked. “Well…” Scott started to reply, but Terry cut him off. “It doesn’t matter. We’ll take your grandpa back to your island. Right now you have other things to take care of.” Morkai hefted Kalaria out of the cage and on to his back. Terry followed him out the door. Suddenly, Scott noticed a huge shadow come from above him. He jumped out of the way as Shadowaxe landed beside him. Scott whirled out the Legendary Sword. “Ah, so you wish to fight?” the giant said. “Then let’s.” He pulled from out of nowhere an axe bigger than himself. Now Scott knew why he was called Shadowaxe. Even though Scott had the Legendary Sword, Shadowaxe was still a force to be reckoned with. His shadowy axe destroyed everything it came into contact with. Their duel lasted for hours and hours. Finally, Scott tripped Shadowaxe and lopped off his head. Shadowaxe slowly vanished until all that was left of him was his helmet and his axe. Scott walked up to the huge building that Shadowaxe had taken him to before, where he saw the hooded figure. As he entered the room, the door slammed shut behind him. Out came the hooded figure. “So,” it muttered, “you were the one who killed Metamikau and Shadowaxe.” The thing threw off its hood and Scott suddenly knew who it was. The dark lord of Andoran, Gimeon Cloud. “You fool,” he said. “Though you pulled out the sword so you could vanquish evil, you fell right into my trap. When I was revived, the ancients trapped me here. There is a barrier around Blackcastle Island that I cannot pass. The only way out is through the Underlands. There are two portals to the Underlands, one here, and one in the Tower of Light . The portal here was once sealed by the Dark Medallion, but the Dark Medallion is now a part of me. The other portal was once sealed by the Spirit Medallion, but that medallion was split into three pieces. The portal was sealed instead by the Legendary Sword, which you removed. Now I am free, but to achieve full power, I must have the Spirit Medallion. That’s why I need you.” Gimeon rushed at Scott with an inhuman speed. He picked him up and yelled, “Give it to me, boy!” “What are you talking about?” Scott asked. “I don’t have anything!” “Oh yes you do.” Gimeon said as he shook Scott some more. A third of a circle fell out of Scott’s bag. “Aha!” Gimeon said as he pulled an identical one out of his pocket. He fit the two together so that only one third was missing. Suddenly, Terry crashed through the window and shouted, “Put him down!” “You little brat!” Gimeon said as he dropped Scott. “I’ll teach you to…” He suddenly stopped and said, “I’ve finally found you. After all these years of looking, I’ve finally found you, Mystacia!” “What are you talking about?” Terry said. “Foolish girl. Do not lie to me. I know who you are, and I know that you carry in your pocket the item that I need to become a god!” Gimeon shouted. He threw Scott down and grabbed Terry. He grabbed the necklace that she wore around her neck. It looked just like the thing Gimeon had taken from him. As he fit the final piece together, Scott and Terry screamed, “No!” He fit it together, and then… and then nothing. Nothing at all. Scott and Terry looked at each other, puzzled. Finally, Gimeon muttered, “It seems the Ancients have played a very cruel trick on me.” Then he yelled, “This thing is worthless without its centerpiece!” Scott seized the moment to try to escape, but Gimeon stopped him. “You’re not going anywhere. If I can kill you now, no one will be able to stop me. ” He pulled a sword out from behind him. The thing was huge; bigger even than the Legendary Sword. Before he swung, he heard a voice. “Hey, Gimeon!” He whirled around to see a girl with a greenish hue standing behind him. It was Galo. “Want to go make out?” she asked. The question caught Gimeon completely by surprise, and Scott seized his opportunity. He pulled out his sword and swung at Gimeon’s throat. Missed. Instead, his blade struck the back of Gimeon’s helmet. “What the?!” Gimeon whirled around, but Scott had already made a break for it. He, Terry, and Galo raced out of the room. “You’ll never get away!” Gimeon shouted. “I’ll find you!” At the bottom of the island was a small ship of Gindol design. They all got on and set sail for the Forest of Mystery . As they left, they could hear Gimeon shout, “You’ve failed, Spirit Walker, failed! This world will belong to me, and it’s all your fault! This world is coming to an end! You’ve lost, Spirit Walker! Game over, I win!”
